Westward Expansion

I am fascinated with the West and consider myself a western artist.  The landscape, people and surroundings are inspiring and intriguing.

This series explores the westward expansion of the 1800's, by examining the common myths I grew up with. As a child all I saw was the romance and adventure.  As an adult, I can imagine the complexities and challenges of this wondrous and cruel environment.

Most of these pieces are more ephemeral, in terms of materials.  Stained paper, mylar and thread are used to layer images.  Other materials include mixed media, pastels, gel transfers, ink and dirt.   These works are not available for purchase.
